Just posted some pics from my second country trip. I'm planning on going on a third trip in the fall. I'll try to get some good pics if and when I go again.

Sorry didn't get any pics from the first trip, nobody had a camera. :/

Car Repair Bullshit and House Loan

Tue Aug 25, 2009, 11:15 AM
Well just like I thought, right when i think I'm done working on and/or spending money on this car I have to have a new timing belt put on. A weird sound is starting to come from that general area and most people that have looked at it think that's what it is... and I agree. Also, I checked the service history of the car and that part has never been replaced and they usually are replaced every 50K miles or so. The car has 88K on it... lol

It is a needed repair, and it will help it run even better than it already does, but holy shit the cost of such a simple thing is crazy! It apparently is hard to get to even though it's right there on the side of the engine, but I guess you have to move some stuff out of the way... so $300 bucks gone just for this... assuming they don't find that the sound is caused by yet another bad part. In any case, the belt needs replaced so I guess it's not a waste.

So in regards to more positive news, I did get that house loan... but the above mentioned car repair costs happened at the worst time ever as you must save up closing costs before you get the loan. That's about $2500. I have found a few houses I'm looking at in the general area, two of which are still available, while I lost one to another buyer that outbid me. No real loss since as I just said, I don't have the closing costs saved yet. I'm hoping I can have those costs wrapped up into the loan amount, but the loan amount must not be higher than the appraised value of the house in that event and must be below the value at least by the amount of the now included extra costs.

For example, if the house was worth 70K, in order to put in closing, the selling price must be $67,500. I'm hoping to get the seller to pay even a few other costs for me, cause I sure can't. Such as home inspection fees, surveys, title costs, etc etc. It's just a big mess of paperwork! Luckily, with the housing market being in the shitter mostly still, sellers are more willing to do more to get the thing sold and off their hands as fast as possible. So their loss is my gain. I just need to find a place I'm willing to spend 38 years in... most of them are not exactly what I want... least none has jumped out as being 'just right'... though that one I lost to the other bidder was very close. It was private, no neighbors, pretty big yard and came complete with everything including furniture. Move in ready!

Anyways, seems there's just too much going on all at one time right now... I feel at the point of just snapping to be honest.... but we shall see... needless to say, because of the two above things and costs involved, I'll be eating noodles more this next month than I was planning on. Weee, being poor is so fun! .... but I'd still rather be poor than a rich spoiled asshole everyone only likes cause of their money. ;)

Back from trip.

Thu Aug 13, 2009, 7:13 PM
Had a great time and it didn't rain as much as I was expecting so yay there. Also got to play with my uncles new guns including an AR-15 which may or may not have a full auto trigger... eh, yeah less said the better. ;) He also got a new XDm .40 by Springfield and it's a damn nice pistol I must say, though I don't like how the top bit is heavy compared to the grip and body below the slide. Trigger pull is also odd so I didn't shoot very well with that. However, the 1911 Colt was as fantastic as ever and I even shot it better than my uncle did. Though to be fair he's a bit out of practice these days cause it costs so much for ammo, less practice is a result.

Also, I got the car fixed and it is now dent free. Took a couple hours of work but besides some slight leftover bumps and little bends on the trim the dents are out and the back left door now opens as it should. It don't look perfect but it damn sure looks better than it did. You can barely tell it was dented. All I have to do now is order a 30 dollar replacement driver side door mirror and pop that on and I'm good to go for that new inspection sticker. Car will then be done with all repairs but one.. which is just annoying so I may not even bother. Only comes up when I run the A/C anyways, so for now, I just pulled the fuse for the A/C. Never use it so who the fuck cares, besides with that on you can say bye bye to the normal 34 miles per gallon gas mileage I usually get. Not bad for a car made in 1997, though I have put on new updated fuel hardware and sensors.

So guess that's all then, I had a great time and hope to go again soon.

Nuff said.
